What does it mean when someone says “rekey”?
Re-keying a lock means using the same the lock but changing the key that goes with the lock. There are 3 different types for different applications:
- Rekeying – This is used in single family residential homes and businesses alike. Same key for one or more doors.
- Multi Family Unit Apartments Buildings require separate sets of keys for each resident or tenant.
- Commercial Building that must use master key system where only one set will open multiple doors while other keys will only open one or two doors.
